Summary
The goal of this series is to assist schools in analyzing and shaping the dominant culture of their site to provide equitable and just opportunities for all children and families. The series approaches this by providing the information and support necessary to allow schools to engage in conversations to build a picture of the current state of the school’s dominant culture. This work is grounded in the understanding that conversations around equity, justice, and dominant culture are often difficult. To do this work in a way that moves an organization forward towards greater equity and justice, individuals must have the emotional intelligence (EI) skills necessary to have productive conversations.
