Summary
Many children are afraid to go to childcare, not because of the snake at the science center, but because they have to face a much more substantial fear: the fear of a bully – a child who teases, humiliates, hits and shoves. No child should fear going to child care. As a child care provider, it is your responsibility to create a safe and loving atmosphere. By learning to identify characteristics of bullies and their victims, you can help prevent the physical and emotional pain bullies inflict. This course will familiarize child care providers with the definition and characteristics of bullies. It also details the effects of bullying from both a bully's and a victim's perspective, and discusses strategies child care providers can implement to help prevent bullying.
