Summary
This training provides an introduction into developmental trajectories in early childhood, including how to assess development from an observational standpoint, and how to recognize and what to do about areas of concern. We then provide a more detailed look at the early signs for common educational and medical diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc. The training provides a broad overview of the developmental domains and the progression of skill development within each domain during the early childhood years. Participants are prompted to collaborate with their teaching team to identify skills within each domain that develop during the associated age range for their classroom/students, and to discuss students that have and have not yet mastered these skills.
