Summary
This course will detail the health and medical issues facing preschool children today and why children's health is not getting better but worse. Childhood obesity, heart disease, diabetes, poor diet, fast food marketing and inactivity will all be reviewed along with current research. Suggested movement activities will be shown and various components of fitness will be described along with their benefits. Participants will also learn about common obstacles that get in the way of implementing regular physical activity in the classroom. Training will end with an action plan to help teachers choose suitable activities for their classes that fit each of their individual needs for time, space, equipment and fitness level.
