Summary
Participants will learn about the 4 elements of play-based learning, the benefits and importance of using natural materials with young children, and how to incorporate natural resources in their classroom. The presentation will demonstrate a variety of new ideas, adding natural elements into the toddler and preschool classroom. The training will be conducted with a group of 20 Family Childcare Providers in Clarksville (CAFFCPA), face to face at the library. The training will be lecture style but participants will be actively engaged in large group discussions pertaining to the topics and their current classroom set up. (Questions to prompt discussions are noted on the power point).Additionally, time will be allocated to "Play" with natural elements using sticks and stones in a variety of ways, such as creating nature based paint brushes, creating story stones to promote literacy activities and leaf lacing to demonstrate the importance of fine motor development in young children.
