The cool down period in a preschool fitness class is very important for children not just physically but mentally as well. It serves as a way to calm them back down, get them moving slower, talking lower and listening more. Children who do not have time to adequately cool down after physical activity leave wound up and overly excited. So, even though stretching is the primary goal during cool down activities, be sure to communicate slowing down the whole body by your own speech, tone, and choice of visualizations you present.
