This presentation, intended for preschool and PreK teachers, can also be beneficial for parents of this aged child. The talks uses the research of Carol Dweck, most often applied to K-12 classrooms, coaching, and the business world, and applies it to the preschool classroom. The presentation is conversational lecture. There is audience participation, a brief video clip, and a Prezi for the presentation. We discuss helping parents out of the trap of competitive mindsets with their children, helping them too much, expecting too much of them. Then we discuss the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Participants are encouraged to consider where they, too, have a fixed mindset. A "Child's Growth Mindset Mantra" is offered and read together. Certain commonly read books in preschool classrooms are brought forward and evidence of growth mindset is pointed out within them.
