Summary
Part 1: Summarize how play affects the brain and benefits children’s development in an open-ended question. This portion of the training identifies playground safety facts and introduces the concept of outdoor spaces. We will also identify various hazards including sharp objects, entanglements, poisonous plants, etc. Part 2: Determine and explain the difference between a risk and a hazard and explain why it is important for children to be given the opportunity to take risks. This portion will also go over safe surface materials and proper supervision techniques outdoors. The creation of playground rules will also be looked at. Part 3: Identify how to create and implement expectations for safe outdoor play. This portion also will look at child development in the outdoor play and the course will end with lesson planning ideas.
