Summary
The interactions and experiences that occur between infants and the significant adults in their lives sets the foundation for the wiring and architecture of the brain. Consistent and responsive caregivers positively influence healthy social-emotional development. Disturbances to the care needed to thrive put children at risk for experiencing disruption to healthy social-emotional development, causing affects to their mental health. This course will outline the effects exposure to stress has on children's development, the impact relationships and interactions have on development and attachment styles, along with ways to support infant and toddler mental health in a learning environment.
