Part 1: In the first section of the training we will look at abuse and neglect, define maltreatment, define mandated reporting and the importance of always reporting suspected abuse. Part 2: The next section of the training looks deeper into suspected abuse, recognizing the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect, and the importance of making a difference. We will also look at talking with children, disclosure, how children might tell you about abuse and how to properly respond. We will also look at what not to do and what to do in these instances. Part 3: The final section of the training addresses common myths surrounding child abuse and the signs and symptoms of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma. We will also summarize the importance of mandated reporting and its requirements.
