Summary
This training will introduce participants to the concept of first person language when interacting with children with special needs. A brief explanation of Rosa’s Law will be provided. Participants will also learn the components of Universal Design and how to structure the physical classroom to be more accommodating of all children and also how to instruct children in a more universal manner that is inclusive of all children. Participants will get an overview of autistic spectrum disorder, its causes, characteristics and specific strategies teachers can take to teach and positively interact with children in the classroom who have been diagnosed with autism. This training is for teachers and administrators of all levels who care for and teach children of all ages and abilities.
