Home visiting is a profession that requires a unique set of knowledge, attitudes, and skills which play a vital role in promoting positive outcomes for children and families. Responsibilities include assessment, reflective practice, and support for a diverse set of clients. This course will examine the factors that contribute to burnout for the home visiting professional. We define the term burnout, compassion fatigue, and other terms relevant to this topic along with the three types of burnout for a clearer picture. The training hopes to empower the home visitor with strategies to reduce occupational stress while increasing job satisfaction, longer tenures, and higher morale.
