One of the strongest methods for supporting learning in the early childhood classroom is still authentic opportunities to talk! This class presents a highly effective framework for four types of communication that teachers can use to be intentional about fostering a culture of quality communication in their learning environments. (content adapted from a conference session presented by C. Elliott O’Connor) Activities include self study reading and watching videos that support class objectives. Students are asked to share on a message board and complete a follow-up assignment that reflects the stated objectives. There is a required objective quiz that measures the course objectives. Students must pass the quiz with a score of at least 80%.
