Early learning standards provide a blueprint for developmentally appropriate classroom experiences and assessment opportunities for our littlest learners. Regularly addressing and assessing these standards is a requirement in many childcare settings. This course considers the origin of standards-based learning in ECE, the components that make up early learning standards, and how early learning standards guide curriculum development, assessment, and inform individualization strategies. The aim of this course is to help teachers make connections and develop a deeper understanding of how to utilize state standards as a foundational tool for planning developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.
