This training/course helps educators learn the “do” part of HighScope’s plan-do-review. Teachers learn to support children in carrying out their plans, play, and problem-solving. This course covers the importance of Work Time, the child-initiated time of the day, when children follow through with their plans while teachers support children’s plans as well as problem-solving and changing of those plans. The Plan-Do-Review cycle is a direct link to building children’s executive function skills such as working memory, inhibitory control, and mental flexibility – which contributes to higher skills such as planning, strategizing, persistence, and self-regulation. The training/course reflects specifically the HighScope Preschool Curriculum; however, any educator could take the course and effectively apply these strategies to their own curriculum and classroom needs
