In every preschool, there are teachers whose vision extends beyond their own classrooms—even beyond their own teams or programs. They recognize that a child’s experiences depend not only on interaction with individual teachers, but also on curriculum choices, program culture, and community engagement. This awareness drives these teachers to want to influence programmatic decisions. They experience professional restlessness. Sometimes through their own initiative and sometimes because of a formal process, these teachers find ways to become teacher leaders. Through interactive learning activities, group discussion forums, multimedia learning experiences, and reflective writing exercises, participants will learn to identify the skills, dispositions, and knowledge necessary to become effective teacher leaders.
