The purpose of this course is to give early childhood educators, caregivers, and administrators insight into the concept of neurodiversity, as well as the history behind the term. Participants will learn what is meant by the term “neurodiverse” and why it is considered important, as well as the challenges it presents. This course will cover the three conditions most associated with neurodiversity as well as some of the hallmarks of those conditions. This course will also cover some of the less common conditions that can also be considered neurodiverse and the convergence of certain mental health conditions and neurodiversity. Further, those who complete this course will learn how to support neurodiverse students in their learning environments through classroom design, teaching methods, lesson planning, and more.
