Summary
This series of training explains how to use books in a highly interactive way, especially through dramatic play. We will use specific books as examples and give lesson plan ideas on how to use them. Budget friendly ideas and examples for costumes, props, sound effects, and expressive reading techniques will be shared. Educators will learn how to choose specific vocabulary words to teach through actions, how punctuation affects a reading, explain characters and their emotions, how to encourage students to create their own stories with a beginning, middle, and an end, for re-telling skills. This method is highly engaging for students of all levels. Activities will include breaking into small groups and asking teachers to come with a basic interactive lesson for a book using simple props given to them. Slides will be shown for both in person and online presentation.
