Summary
Large group/lecture/group discussion: Reading aloud to a class of children is a very important way to teach early literacy and plays a big part in the early childhood classroom. Not only does this workshop teach various read aloud techniques for every type of educator personality, but we explain how to read the same book more than once to teach a different literacy skill each time. We pay attention to Teachers who don’t prefer reading aloud and teach them methods that help them feel more comfortable. We also give transition activity (story time rituals) suggestions to capture the students attention and get them ready to focus for storytime. We bring a wide variety of books depending on the schools’ request (infant toddler teacher, Pre-K teachers etc.) and show teachers how to use repeated read alouds the most effectively, so that they can teach all of the early literacy skills. Activities will include practicing to read aloud in small groups.
