Summary
This training is about traumatic experiences in young children. This training will explore how traumatic experiences shape development. This training will also offer educators tools and strategies using literature to help children navigate the feelings that may accompany a traumatic experience. We will accompany specific books with budget friendly lesson plan ideas. Examples of items to have in the classroom to help children navigate feelings that may accompany a traumatic experience are given as well. Handouts with library resources and book suggestions for a variety of age groups are provided. Educators will be asked to participate in discussion questions at the beginning and end of the training. Educators will participate in breathing exercises halfway through the training. Slides will be shown for both in person and on-line presentation.
