Summary
This training will teach about incorporating children’s picture books into math activities. We will discuss the Math standards required including number concepts, counting, calculations, spatial awareness, patterns and measurement. Preschoolers are naturally curious about math concepts and we wish to support this interest and try to dispel the myth that Math is “hard”. Encouragement of experimenting and problem solving will also be discussed. After the discussion, we will offer book suggestions and lesson plans to go with them. We have sets of books for infant/toddlers as well as for Pre-K/K students. This part of the presentation will be flexible depending upon which age group of teachers we are presenting to, as new books come out and if the school requests one or two hours of instruction.
