Summary
The workshop offers a fun, interactive approach of promoting early language and literacy skills using child-friendly rhythmic songs. Within the four-hour session, current topics concerning the achievement gap, presenting enriching language experiences, building early brain connections, and developing the critical foundational skills for future reading success will be discussed. Participants will engage in discussions, sing-alongs, demonstrations and small group exercises. Attendees will learn that introducing songs as a creative instructional approach provides a wealth of opportunities for young children to learn across many subjects. Participants will be encouraged to develop partnerships with librarians to acquire age-appropriate literature and music for young learners.
