Summary
The highly engaging workshop will introduce participants to American Sign Language and its impact on hearing children; infants, toddlers and preschoolers in very purposeful ways. For many years, numerous social science researchers have known that the earliest interactions have a profound effect on the development of children. Within the workshop, emphasis will focus on providing responsive and caring interactions with young learners and supporting families. Attendees will acquire knowledge of fifty (50) user-friendly American Sign Language symbols that may be immediately used with children. The workshop promotes the basic awareness of the brain's anatomy and its various functions. In addition, valuable resources will be shared and a thorough discussion of a case study focusing on a child who endured toxic stress and became self-mute will be studied.
