The material in this Employee Orientation Toolkit Module 1: General Care and Communication Training, will be presented by the director through one-on-one or small group review with staff. It contains a PowerPoint with sample documents and links to necessary handouts, a companion guide that may be used to provide some conversational prompts, and a checklist that can be used as a summary document of subject areas covered. Topics covered include the characteristics of high quality childcare, types of communication, daily reporting, and cultural understanding. There is a review of the Pyramid Model, child development milestones, a discussion of best practices responses to challenging situations, positive guidance, and the importance of play. The training also includes 2 quizzes that can be used for interaction with the participant(s).
