Summary
Challenging Behavior in the classroom can take many forms and pop up for many reasons. Often, as teachers, we work hard to “fix” the current situation – to make the day-to-day bearable. Lasting behavior change, however, rarely results from quick fixes that are tailored to only one environment. Often times this means involving families to discuss challenges the child is facing in the classroom. This is not only a difficult conversation for families to hear, but us as administrators/teachers/professionals to have. In this session, we'll talk about ways to build a relationship with a child's family so that you can work as a team to address challenging behaviors across settings and make the difficult, "We have a problem..." conversations more bearable and productive.
