This training provides an introduction into developmental trajectories in early childhood, including how to assess development from an observational standpoint, and how to recognize and what to do about areas of concern. We then provide a more detailed look at the domain of social-emotional development, including a breakdown of challenging behaviors, collecting data on antecedents and consequences of challenging behavior to determine the funtion, and implementing appropriate intervention strategies. Finally, we discuss general strategies for supporting social-emotional development in child-care settings.
