This training is designed to help educators understand ways they can support early literacy skills through play-based learning. Educators will gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which children learn through play. Participants will learn about early literacy skills and what constitutes play-based learning, specifically guided play. They will participate in several hands-on activities to experience guided play scenarios and reflect on the ways literacy skills are supported. Books suggestions will be provided as inspiration for play. Multiple books will be demonstrated in the workshop, participants will have time to browse and discuss additional suggested titles, and a book list will be provided. Participants will have opportunities to reflect on how they can incorporate what they've practiced in the workshop into their classrooms and discuss actionable next steps.
